The history of Winkhaus

The 1930s

Until the start of the Second World War, Aug. Winkhaus continues to export a large share of its products abroad. To adapt production to the increase in orders, Winkhaus has to expand and puts a disused factory in Telgte back into operation. Having started with just 20 employees, it soon has a workforce of 65 and after just five years, the facility, which had started life purely as an assembly plant, becomes an independent factory.

Rudolf Winkhaus, the site’s founder, has good reason to celebrate on his 80th birthday: the company now employs 27 white-collar employees and 423 blue-collar employees.
