The history of Winkhaus The 1980s At the start of the 1980s, Winkhaus ventures into new territory. Recently renamed from Winkhaus Deutschland to Winkhaus Technik GmbH, the company launches a product range featuring mechanical security devices. Sicherheits-Systeme GmbH, with its headquarters in Münster, is founded as an independent arm of the company, designing, manufacturing and selling mechanical and electronic security systems. Technical innovations also raise the bar in respect of the expectations to be met by other Winkhaus products: Feeder systems now have to be able to transport entire component families with short retooling times, assured protection and faster cycles. Winkhaus Zuführsysteme GmbH is founded as an independent company to provide flexible solutions to market requirements.

1981
Winkhaus Deutschland becomes Winkhaus Technik.

Mechanical security devices are added to the product range.
Winkhaus gets a new logo and modernises its image.

1982
Product group innovations: Winkhaus adds ventilation engineering to its catalogue of products. The flagship range is AirControl.
The feeder systems department becomes independent and operates as Winkhaus Zuführ-Systeme GmbH.

1983
Winkhaus offers the Pilot tilt and turn window hardware as a modular system for fabricators and launches the manually-adjustable eccentric locking bolt.
Hongkong Ident Ltd is founded in Hong Kong as a purchasing organisation for bicycle locks and accessories.


1985
The recently-founded independent Group company Sicherheits-Systeme GmbH finds a home in Münster. It designs, manufactures and sells mechanical and electronic security systems.

1987
Winkhaus Sicherheitssysteme presents Titan, its new mechanical locking system. Furthermore, with the High Security electronic locking system, Winkhaus has developed a system in which a microchip performs the task of a conventional lock profile. Winkhaus also introduces its security entrance door look to the market during this period.

Winkhaus Iberica is founded as an independent selling company for the Spanish market.
