The history of Winkhaus

The 1990s

The company undergoes a period of restructuring. Aug. Winkhaus GmbH & Co. KG provides the organisational framework for the operational business divisions Windows, Doors, Automation and Two-Wheel Security. Winkhaus has a global workforce of 2000.

The development of the intelligent window and the increasing automation of production processes contribute significantly to the success of an expanded product range. One of the factors in the success the company enjoys during this period is the first autoPilot Center, designed and built as part of a joint project with the mechanical engineering company Lemuth, which significantly improves production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The founding of Winkhaus North America advances the company’s position on the American market. Winkhaus STV GmbH opens at Meiningen in Thüringen. Covering an area of 65,000 m2, the site features a production hall for security entrance door lockings and an office building.
