Together with the specialist dealer Secure-EX, the municipality first analysed what requirements were actually placed on a modern access control system. It quickly became clear that it was not only necessary to improve the existing situation, but also to create a solution that could be expanded in the long term. The decision was ultimately made to use the blueEvo electronic locking system from Winkhaus.
One of the main reasons for choosing blueEvo was the system’s high flexibility. For municipalities and public institutions in particular, it is important to start small and be able to expand at any time if necessary. New buildings, additional user groups or additional locations are easy to integrate. At the same time, the system enables central management of all access rights.
A total of 70 electronic locking cylinders were installed in the various buildings in the project. Particular emphasis was placed on flush-mounted cylinders, which not only offer enhanced protection against vandalism but also allow for discreet and unobtrusive integration into the existing doors for architectural reasons. This allows for technically sound and visually cohesive solutions for various door configurations in existing buildings. blueEvo can also easily be combined with furniture locks, such as ones from the JuNie brand, so that not only doors, but also lockers and other sensitive areas can be integrated into Kisselbach’s uniform access control system.
The system is currently networked with five Virtual Network Hubs and access readers connected online to the BE blueControl software. The readers are connected to the software via an LTE router. This made it possible to connect the individual sites independently of an existing network infrastructure. The entire system is managed centrally via a virtual server and managed by the specialist retail partner Secure-EX.
Today, the municipality’s employees benefit from significantly greater ease of use. Instead of a handful of conventional keys, a single electronic key is all that is needed for all doors equipped with blueEvo. Authorisations can be flexibly assigned or adapted and are immediately available the first time a key makes contact with a Virtual Network Hub. A particularly important feature is the ability to immediately block lost keys without having to replace the lock cylinders. This significantly reduces both security risks and consequential costs.
A total of 118 issued keys are currently managed centrally. For the first time, the municipality thus has a complete overview of all access authorisations and can make changes independently at any time. New employees, service providers or representatives of clubs can be quickly integrated into the system, while authorisations can easily be revoked if necessary.
"First of all, the biggest challenge was to find out who actually has a key in their possession. With the new solution, we have an overview at all times and can react much more flexibly to changes," says mayor Christian Galle, describing the situation.
The project also demonstrates the advantages of modern electronic access solutions in the municipal environment for the supporting specialist dealer Secure-EX. "The municipality wanted a solution that could not only meet the current requirements, but also grow with them in the long term. Virtual networking and central management by the BE blueControl Advanced software have created the ideal basis for this," explains Alexander Wenke, Managing Director of Secure-EX.
