Electronic locking systems in the education sector

In educational institutions, different groups of people meet each other every day – students, teachers, service providers, club members and visitors. The challenge for operators is to permanently combine security, organisation and flexibility. Schools, nurseries and other educational establishments typically combine a variety of different areas. These areas include classrooms and specialist rooms, offices, laboratories, sports halls or outdoor facilities. Depending on the size of the organisation or the school authority, individual locations or several properties are managed centrally.

This diversity requires structured access control. In practice, though, it is often difficult to keep track of who has access to which areas and when. In addition, the requirements regarding data protection and monitoring are increasing. GDPR requirements and higher security standards mean that modern locking systems are increasingly important. Access rules must not only make sense from an organisational perspective, they must also be legally sound and comprehensible – especially where operators have a high level of responsibility.

For those responsible, this leads to crucial questions:
• How can sensitive areas be reliably protected?
• How can I respond quickly in the event of lost keys, personnel changes or
unforeseen circumstances?
• How do I reduce the administrative burden to a reasonable minimum?
