FAQ
What should I do if the programming card is lost?
If the programming card is lost, a replacement programming card must be ordered from Aug. Winkhaus SE.
The new programming card is given the next free, consecutive card number and automatically revokes the authorisation of the previous programming card the first time it is used.
Where can I find the system and locking number?
You can find the system or locking number on both the cylinder and the key.
The cylinder has an identification label affixed on the side. In the first line, you will find the system number and the locking number of this cylinder below it. The system and locking number of the respective key can be found on the black key shaft.
Keys and cylinders in Winkhaus systems have a consecutive locking number to rule out duplicate assignments of the same locking number.
You will also find the system number on your backup and programming card.
My cylinder can no longer be locked.
Depleted batteries are the usual cause of a locking fault like this. If the cylinder can no longer be actuated at all due to depleted batteries, it is possible to energise the cylinder with the help of the optional power adapter and open it with emergency power.
Tip: Store the power adapter openly accessible just in case. Emergency opening is only possible with an authorised key.
The cylinder cannot be programmed.
This message could be caused by the following:
Cylinder is not connected to the programming device
Cylinder battery is empty
Cylinder with external powerpack supply is not connected to the battery pack
Programming device is not correctly connected to the PC
Programming device battery is depleted
The programming card is not correctly placed on the programming device (BCP-NG)
How long do the batteries work and when do they need to be replaced?
A specific battery type is used depending on the cylinder type. At an ambient temperature of approx. 20 °C, the following guide values apply for the current cylinder generation:
BC 01, BC 02, BC 04MK, BC 05 and BC 85: 18,000 locking operations or six years on standby.
BS 01, BS 02, BS 04MK, BS 05 and BS 85: 25,000 locking operations or six years on standby.
Replacement battery set BCB12 is required for these cylinder types (current cylinder versions).
BC 11, BC 12U, BC 12H, BC 14MK, BC 15, BS 11, BS 12, BS 14MK and BS 15: 500,000 locking operations or seven years on standby. This requires an external BCEB battery pack.
BC 04, BC 21, BS 04 and BS 21: 200,000 locking operations or ten years on standby. The replacement battery set BCEBA04 or BCEBA21 is required here.
BC 90 EZK: 40,000 locking operations or four years on standby. The replacement battery set BCEBA90 is required here.
