Diversity in the building, well-organised accesses

Volkswagen Immobilien GmbH organises access rights simply and flexibly with blueEvo. After more than 20 years of reliable service from the previous ‘blueChip’ system, it was clear to the company that the locking system should be upgraded to the latest technology. The aim was to simplify administration, speed up processes and, at the same time, increase security to meet the stricter Tisax Automotive requirements. With the blueEvo electronic locking system from Winkhaus, the property management company found the right solution and was able to carry out the changeover smoothly.

In the first phase of installation, 182 electronic cylinders and 11 readers were installed, and 615 battery-free user keys were issued. Thanks to the flush-mounted design of the cylinders, no structural adjustments were necessary on the doors, which made the changeover particularly efficient. Only the newly added Virtual Network Hubs for virtual networking had to be wired.

“The switch was straightforward and required little effort for us. The entire conversion was carried out during normal operations, so our tenants experienced no inconvenience,” explains Johannes Sichelschmidt, the responsible property manager at Volkswagen Immobilien.

The administration of access rights was previously time-consuming and prone to errors. Numerous tenants with changing employees, frequent adjustments to authorisation structures and recurring key losses entailed a high level of organisational effort. With the introduction of blueEvo, this changed fundamentally: Keys can now be conveniently programmed via the Virtual Network Hubs and authorisation groups can be created virtually and flexibly adapted.

The client control feature is particularly appreciated, as it allows major tenants in the Forum-AutoVision complex to independently manage their own access rights. In technical terms, the system also offers added value: The user keys with MIFARE DESFire EV3 transponders not only control doors, but tenants and employees can also access e-charging stations. Feedback on battery status and locking events is automatically logged. This creates audit-proof and GDPR-compliant documentation, resulting in greater transparency and security.

“The introduction of the new locking system, including the associated software, has greatly simplified our administration,” says Sichelschmidt. “Thanks to blueEvo, we can react quickly to changes and are therefore very well positioned for the digital future.”
Since its introduction, administrative effort has decreased significantly. At the same time, administration and tenants benefit from optimised processes, increased security and greater flexibility. The system offers ample potential for gradually converting further building sections from blueChip to blueEvo in the future and completely digitising the processes.
